Colour dreams...

At Oliver Diamonds we are very proud of our achievements within the coloured diamonds market. We now have one of the largest stocks of coloured diamonds in the UK.

Natural fancy coloured diamonds can be the rarest of all diamonds, depending on the specific colour. The rarity is such, that the availability is limited and the values are very high (reaching millions of pounds). In recent years, such diamonds have become more familiar within the general media, and we have seen some famous celebrities wear them: J-Lo, P Diddy, Victoria Beckham etc. This familiarity has created a new trend and a new demand on the high street.

Demand is very high, however the supply currently does not match as there are not enough natural fancy coloured diamonds available. Within diamond circles, its only in recent years that the beautiful colours have been recognised and appreciated. Historically; if a diamond was not white, it was disregarded. Now we have a situation where white diamonds are still rare and certain coloured diamonds are even rarer: canary yellow, sky blue, fancy pink, apple green. The problem is it that there is simply not enough availability to supply the demand.

There have been recent developments within the diamond industry: When diamonds are mined, they come in a variety of colours related to white gradings. This varitey of colours provides an opportunity to enhance a diamond's natural colour, using methods of irradiation and also high pressures. The natural tinge of colour can then be enhanced to create the deep, consistent colour of what can be classified as a fancy colour diamond. These diamonds are still rare, its only certain diamonds that can be put forward for this treatment and the resulting colour then becomes the important factor, and how we judge the quality and value.

Fancy coloured diamonds are graded on a different scale to 'white' diamonds. The scale is based on the intensity of the colour, and are as follows: Faint, Very Light, Light, Fancy Light, Fancy, Fancy Intense, Fancy Vivid and Fancy Deep.

Oliver Diamonds has a wide stock of natural diamonds enhanced with colour. We currently feature our  Colour dreams; Canary Yellow, Sky Blue & Apple Green set in rings, pendants and stud earrings. You have the piece of mind to be dealing with a market leader in this field.
